"Most of my life I have owned animals, especially dogs. It has only been since retirement that I have been able to focus on dog training and coaching. Three and a half years ago, I purchased my first Jack Russel Terrier, Piper, from my daughters' horse trainer, Jean Graham. Piper has recently performed amazingly at Barn Hunt Nationals. In the small dog portion she was 1st in Course 2, Versatility Champion and 2nd in Overall Small Dog. She currently has her RATCHX and is moving up the ladder quickly. Piper also loves NASDA and she is amazing at in when we have time. Piper also excels in JRT events. She has won many Hi-Point Championships and Is an Under Dog Racing Champion. Owning a JRT has opened up so many things for me and has truly changed my for the better.
Two of the people I am partnering with guided me and my dog on this incredible journey into dog sports; Greta Bradshaw and Ray Steel. They have helped set up a facility at my childhood home to practice, teach, and coach others in the sports of Barn Hunt and NASDA." Please come join us for one of our clinics or just to practice.
Greta is an Executive Secretary and Small Business Owner.
"I discovered dog sports with SCJRC in 2007 and became an acting board member in 2022-2023. My current Jack Russell, Oak Leaf Jingles, has opend the door to many exciting events from JRTC, AKC, Barn Hunt and NASDA. He is very commited to high-speed competition and is a joy to handle. His many accoalades include 2018 Incedible Dog Challenge racing finalist, 2022 AKC fastCAT National Invitation Reserve Champion PRT, 2023 NASDA International Qualifier at Champion level Trailing and Locating and 2023 National Champion Overal High in Hurdles. He holds titles in Earth Dog, Barn Hunt, FastCAT, Trailing and Locating, Urban Loacating and Brace. He's currently running Barn Hunt as an Elite Master Chamption with his 6th excellence title and a Platinum Gold in Crazy 8's.
I was born with a passion to compete and train dogs in obedience, but that was thrown out the window in 2018 as I discovered what a joy it is to communicate and handle my dog and best friend as a partner rather than his dominator.
Jingles' passion is to perform freestyle Frisbee routines with me as his dancing partner! Can a determined dog teach an old person new tricks?"
Ray is a somewhat retired Database and Web Consultant. He played and coached (Men's and HS) Rugby for 40+ years in New Zealand and in the USA. As he puts it, "my body is like a well-worn rugby ball, slightly oval and deflated, but holding together just enough to avoid total collapse". His idea of "fast" now involves trying to grab Rat Tubes before they are launched across the ring by his Field Golden Retriever "Tana" He has been involved in Barn Hunt since 2017 and has handled 4 of his dogs beyond the Master Level. (RATCHX+, CZ8 Platinum+)He has also titled his dogs in many other dog sports including Retriever Hunt Tests, Scent-work, Dock Diving, Fast Cat, Agility and NASDA.
Ray works very well with dogs who also do scent work and are treat motivated. Between the three of us we offer a variety of different training methods that will help you with you and your dogs' journey in Dog Sports.
